It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created to support EISD schools by raising private dollars to invest in innovative programs not fully funded through local, state or federal taxes.
It is governed by a board of directors consisting of Ennis community members who meet regularly to manage and support the operations and programs of the foundation.
It is designed to supplement and complement programs and activities currently being provided by the district´s curriculum.
It funds innovative teacher grants and grants for new teachers to the teaching profession at EISD.
Provides additional funding for programs the school district may fall short to cover.
EISD schools are faced with increasing demands and diminishing resources.
Funding is a constant issue due to shrinking tax revenues, budget shortfalls, and the shifting of state funds to poorer districts.
EISD does the best job possible with the funding available and even taps into additional sources through state and federal grants, but there is still much more that can be done for our teachers and students.
In 2014, a group of concerned Ennis citizens formed a committee with the mission to create an education foundation with the goal of providing EISD teachers additional funding to support innovative curriculum and enhanced instruction. From this teamwork, the Ennis ISD Education Foundation was formed.
With the help of four major donors, (Ennis State Bank, First State Bank, Citizens National Bank of Texas, and Polyguard) each contributing $25,000, and 70 other companies and private individuals, the Education Foundation raised over $180,000 initially to get it off the ground.
Awarded over $582,000 in grants to the teachers and campuses of EISD to support innovative teaching practices.
Awarded over $65,000 in new teacher grants.
Raised an additional $650,000 through special events and private donations.
